We are the champions
The advanced math students in the 8 grade
level participated in an online international math contest, Israeli schools
against American schools.
We were given some interesting high order
thinking questions. We collaborated as s group and made great efforts to
succeed. We were encouraged by our math teachers.
We answered all the questions correctly. We
won the second prize because there was a tie among 2 schools. The school which
submitted the answer first won the first prize. Therefore we won the second
international prize and the first Israeli prize.
We won because we have a good command of the
English language and our math is very good.

שיתוף פעולה בינתחומי
התחרות הייתה בין בתי ספר אמריקאיים וישראליים, לכן התחרות התקיימה
באנגלית, תוך כדי התחרות הסתבר שהשאלות היו מנוסחות בצורת סביל. חומר שאנחנו
לומדים עתה בשיעור אנגלית. על כן, התבקשנו לנסח שאלות שנלמדות בשיעורי מתמטיקה בצורת הסביל באנגלית. להלן דוגמא

Math question
Medusa's head grew fifty poisonous snakes. Anyone
bitten by one of these snakes was sentenced to a painful death. The courageous
Odysseus fought these fifty snakes knowing that once the last snake head is
cut, medusa would die. Two special swords were used by Odysseus. The first
sword could cut nine heads, the second sword could cut two heads but five new
heads immediately popped out instead of those two. If eight heads or less were
left alive Odysseus couldn't use the sword of nine heads, if one head was left
alive he couldn't use any of the swords.
What is the smallest number of heads that
could remain alive?

תלמידי מצויינות מתמטיקה משכבת ח' בחט"ב בן גוריון השתתפו בתחרות מתמטיקה בינלאומית באינטרנט וזכו במקום השני: התחרות הייתה בין בתי ספר אמריקאיים וישראליים, והתקיימה בשפה האנגלית. התלמידים קיבלו שאלות מעניינות של חשיבה מסדר גבוה, שיתפו פעולה כקבוצה וענו נכון על כל השאלות. בית הספר שהגיש ראשון את התשובה זכה בפרס ראשון, ותלמידי בן גוריון זכו בפרס הבינלאומי השני ובפרס הראשון בישראל. ברכות לתלמידים הזוכים ולמורות לאנגלית ולמתמטיקה בבית הספר שהכינו את תלמידים ועודדו אותם להצליח
